Erika Hughes and the Well Mannered Band

I'm honored to be permitted to share Erika Hughes and the Well Mannered Band's newest video link with you.  If you want to hear true Americana music, you will enjoy her band.  Erika style blends Americana Blue Grass with rock and roll and folk.  She writes her own songs.

I've had the pleasure of knowing Erika since she was a baby. (She is the daughter of one of my oldest friends.)  What an incredible talent!

Whether you are a high school student or a business professional, you want to understand American Slang.  If you try to learn it from a book, chances are you aren't getting good information.

US Slang changes constantly, becomes outdated and is not easy to use appropriately.  That is why we are adding #IcanSlang to our website and social media feeds.

WARNING: Before you use slang, you need to know:

Is this slang age appropriate?

Some slang can be used for all age groups of people.  However, because slang is a creative use of common words, most slang is confined to the age group that developed it.  Example:  Say "bad" to most adults and they think of the dictionary definition of "bad'.  However, say it to people under 30 years old and it very well might mean "great".  Yes, slang can be THAT confusing.

Is this slang geographically appropriate?

Slang used in California may be very different than slang used in the Midwestern or Eastern states.

Is this slang appropriate for a particular audience?

Be aware of with whom you are speaking.  Are you in a formal or informal environment?  Slang which is appropriate for casual friends may not be appropriate for work environments or other more formal gatherings.

Is this slang gender appropriate?

Slang may be considered offensive to the opposite gender.
